LITERACY
Writing to communicate ideas is more important than ever in our world. Did you know most colleges require students to write an essay as part of the application process? Did you know that many employers require a written essay as part of the application process? Did you know that extended responses is required on state assessment? Did you know that writing to show learning begins as early as kindergarten? In short, the foundation for writing skills begins in kindergarten. We've included helpful literacy ideas to support literacy in the home. If you welcome more ideas, please contact your child's teacher. Together we can build a strong literacy foundation.

MATHEMATICS
Here at EES, all grade levels, K-5, use the Eureka Math Program (Engage NY) as a guide for mathematics instruction. Eureka is a math curriculum that, "connects math to the real world in ways that take the fear out of math and build student confidence—helping students achieve true understanding lesson by lesson and year after year."
There are many resources available to assist parents in developing their understanding of the curriculum and designed to help your student become a proficient mathematician.
